Prada Maintains A Strong Trajectory With Its Spring 2016 Runway Bags

Last season’s runway debut of the Prada Inside Bag was the brand’s biggest bag launch in recent memory, and based on the handbags in tow at the brand’s Spring 2016 show, Prada clearly intends to take that momentum into next season. Not only did we see new versions of the Inside, but the brand debuted a good-looking, top-handled day bag, a chain-strapped flap shoulder bag and more.

Most of the collection’s runway bags were adorned with vertical lines; some even, some not. That provided ample opportunity for both colorblocking and texture-blocking, including plenty of snakeskin interspersed with flat leather. Crocodile was also strongly represented, but it mostly stayed away from the other materials on bags of its own.

The color palette was heavily neutral, with occasional splashes of Crayola brights popping through. The bags felt modern and slick, like the kind of thing a creative director at a chic digital agency would carry to work. Prada’s always had successful working women in mind, and the brand appears to be moving toward a new generation of them.
