One Bag, Two Ways: How We Styled The New Gucci Blondie Bag

The deep dive into the archives of heritage luxury brands continues to be a major push for nearly every luxury bag brand.

Gucci helped to pioneer this trend, and for Cruise 2025, Sabato De Sarno furthers this attention to House history with the expansion of the Gucci Blondie Line.

Like his predecessor, Sabato de Sarno’s exploration of the Gucci archives continues to be an ever-evolving narrative revisited season after season. This time, De Sarno looks back to the 1970s, further exploring the Gucci Blondie Bag.

This bag is a new take on classic Gucci, offering a contemporary spin that is stylish and functional. Like past archival revivals from Gucci, the Blondie bag checks off all the right boxes, and we fell in love with it at first glance.

The Gucci Blondie line is expansive, offering something for everyone in an array of colors and sizes. From full GG Canvas to leather and suede versions, each bag features the distinct double G logo, first appearing in the House’s collections in the early 1970s.

We took the Blondie out for a spin to showcase two (of many ways) to wear and style the Gucci Blondie Bag.

The Gucci Blondie Takes New York

On an unusually warm fall day, I took the Small Gucci Blondie Top Handle out for a spin in my downtown NYC neighborhood. While a bag’s aesthetic is incredibly important to me, so is its duality.

This bag offers just the right mix of casual yet sleek. It can easily transition to being more dressed up or more casual, which fits my ever-changing personal aesthetic. I like a bag that can do it all, and I find the Gucci Blondie bag to be pragmatic in that way.

I’m always running around, so while I love how the bag looks carried by the top handle, I also appreciate its longer strap. This outfit is pretty standard for me, casual with a hint of girly in the form of my beloved gold Repetto ballet flats.

I channeled Gucci’s past collaborations with Adidas. I opted to pair baggy jeans with a vintage Adidas short-sleeve windbreaker I bought at the flea market in Paris earlier this year. It’s very me (and very New York).

The Gucci Blondie Takes Miami

Since I was a little girl, my favorite color has been blue. It’s not typically a true blue, but baby blue, grey-blue hues, pastels, and sometimes cobalt sneak in. I find blue as calming as I do pretty.

That is precisely how I felt when I first saw this specific Gucci Blondie in Blue Suede. Between the color and material, I was immediately hooked. The Blondie drew me in from the moment I first saw it. Gucci is the brand that made me love the archival-revival movement, and this bag checks every box for me.

Obviously, the Round Interlocking G logo sits front and center, and while it isn’t small, it feels like a special (disco-era) touch. As for the material and color, I love how the blue suede and leather pair on this bag. It adds a feeling of dimensionality and depth at first glance.

I’ve been drawn to a statement-color bag for fall and winter, and this bag is exactly what I want for my winter wardrobe. The suede denotes a nod to the colder weather seasons, and the color fits in with my South Florida home base.

I also opted for the medium size to test out versus the small (which Kaitlin shared above). I still need a bit more space for my necessities, and this size is ideal for daily use.

I have always been a fan of brown and blue hues, so pairing a casual brown dress with this bag fits my style. Oh, and the sneakers, well, that feels somewhat obvious to me at this point. I will be a sneaker girl forever unless I find a different pair of shoes that genuinely feels comfortable (aside from sandals, obviously).

This bag offers a very nice mix of dressy and structured— casual and wearable. It’s my favorite kind of pairing when it comes to style and pragmatics, and as a forever Gucci girl, I’m adding it to my list of wants.
