The New 2025 The Louis Vuitton X Takashi Murakami Collection

Louis Vuitton released its first collaboration with artist Takashi Murakami in 2003, at a time when designer/artist collaborations weren’t commonplace in the way that they are today.

Still, Louis Vuitton has long since been accustomed to sharing its design process with someone else, and since its inception the brand has worked on various capsule collections and partnerships.

Many consider the brand to be the pioneer of modern collaboration. One of its most-loved partnerships of all time is its past collaborations with Murakami. The duo’s first collection debuted on the brand’s spring 2003 runway under Marc Jacobs’s creative direction.

At the time, the pair’s complete re-imagination of the brand’s iconic LV logo was unprecedented. The Japanese contemporary artist revived the logo in a bold, colorful rainbow palette. The bright hues sat atop either white or black-coated canvas. They were an instantaneous hit, and that collection would spawn a prolific partnership.

Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami would continue their artful collaboration for years to come, releasing a slew of limited-edition prints that fans were eager to get their hands on (and many remain coveted items to this day). Other popular collections included the Cherry Blossom Collection and the Cerises Collection.

Louis Vuitton x Murakami 2025: The Details

Now, over twenty years after its original debut collection, the pair are reuniting once again, and fans are going wild.

Rumors of the duo pairing up once again began swirling over the summer on social media and on tPF, with fans eager to learn more. In early fall, more leaks popped up online, and it seemed that the rumors really were true; we’d be getting an LV x Murakami collection in 2025.

The Takashi Murakami Collection is now officially unveiled on LouisVuitton.com with details on styles and prices.

Slated to be released starting in January 2025, the Murakami Collection will see a return of beloved icons like the Monogram Multicolor. Later, in March, we will see drops of the Panda motif and the Cherry Blossom. Mid-2025 will see a final release of the Cherry Collection.

Monogram Multicolor

Multicolore pieces were some of the first images to leak online, as well as pop art pieces with bold graphics—Murakmi’s signature. The Monogram Multicolor bags will be the first to be shipped to clients in mid-January.

Information on Pre-Orders and Wishlists

According to the latest information posted in the busy LV X Murakami thread on TPF, pre-orders have been halted worldwide as of this morning (December 4, 2024).

A sales associate shared with a customer that pre-orders have been halted due to a flood of preorders made by non-VICs (Very Important Clients).

However, shoppers are still able to submit their wishlists to their sales associates.
