Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2023 Is Vintage Meets Contemporary

Over the weekend, Louis Vuitton held its Pre-Fall 2023 show in Seoul, and it was a star-studded event packed with friends of the House, brand ambassadors, influencers, and celebs. A show-stopping location, the show was held on Seoul’s Jamsugyo Bridge and featured a set design by Hwang Dong-Hyuk, the director of Squid Game. The collection itself is described as “a tale of to and fro,” and the show is a quintessential representation of that. It’s all about the Maison’s creative flow throughout the years, how the past becomes and present and vice versa. Creativity flows throughout generations, and Louis Vuitton’s foundation in travel and savoir-faire is everpresent here.

Classic Meets Modern

Nicolas Ghesquiere continues to explore Louis Vuitton’s rich history through his distinct, contemporary lens. This collection is an eclectic mix of textures, colors, and aesthetics. It feels creative and fresh, yet inherently Louis Vuitton. The Maison’s most emblematic motifs are fused with modernity, like classic monogram, which appears on carry-over pieces and new bags, like a slouchy mini tote and a micro Noé. Meanwhile, Epi leather stole the show, with models toting classics like the Alma and Speedy, in colors from the archives like royal blue, deep red, and sunshine yellow. New classics like the Twist and the Petite Malle also appeared on the runway in neutral tones, juxtaposing Epi leather’s vibrant hues.
