Louis Vuitton Damier Azur Gets A Pretty, Printed Makeover For Spring 2023
Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2023 runway bags are slowly starting to trickle out (more on that later), but if you’re not into carrying around a magnified version of one of the Maison’s most important emblems you may want to check out some of the brand’s other Spring/Summer offerings.
Each year, in addition to its runway bags, which are often more editorial and less wearable, Louis Vuitton releases a capsule collection. These mini collections are typically refreshed versions of fan-favorite bags, usually in Monogram print, often becoming lust-worthy pieces for avid Louis Vuitton collectors. These capsule collections are integral to the brand’s sales, meant to satiate fans and push them to rebuy new iterations of some of the brand’s most classic styles.
Damier Azur, Reimagined
While last year we had the Spring in the City collection, and the year before, we were given the much-buzzed-about Summer by the Pool collection, this year Louis Vuitton chose to focus on a different House staple, reinventing its Damier Azur canvas.
An already beloved choice for the warm weather months thanks to its light hue, this season, Damier Azur is given a bold, printed finish that’s vaguely reminiscent of the brand’s capsule collection from Summer 2018. The nautical-inspired finish is screen-printed onto the canvas, featuring chains and ropes with five different colors. Most prominently, golden highlights are shown throughout, giving a distinctly resort-like feel. Further signifying the bag’s limited edition finishes is the bag’s textile interior, which is also given a printed finish.
The mini collection features a few of the brand’s most popular shapes. There’s the Speedy Bandoulière 25 ($2,150), the Neverfull MM ($2,370), the NéoNoé MM ($2,380), and the Alma BB ($2,100), as well as some other small leather accessories.
