For Chloé Fall 2022, Gabriela Hearst Melds Historic House Codes With Modernity

Creative Director Gabriela Hearst and her team at Chloé continue to pave the way towards a more sustainable Maison, utilizing boundary-breaking techniques and providing an example for other major luxury houses in the future. This commitment to the environment meshes seamlessly with Chloé’s free-spirited, boho aesthetic. This season, Hearst explores Chloé’s most iconic and historical house codes, reimagining them in a fresh, modern way.

As a whole, the Chloé Fall 2022 collection introduces a new approach to the creative process, structured to ensure that the Maison continues to focus on a climate solution, which is central to Hearsts vision both at Chloé and in life. This season, the designer melds a commitment to the environment with Chloé’s aesthetic references, which will continue to be seen moving forward. Hearst believes that bettering the environment and climate success requires more women leaders in the field.

New Chloé Meets Old Chloé

Most literally, Hearst’s philosophy plays out on a range of pieces that depict various landscapes within the environment, all under environmental stressors. There are forest fires, melting glaciers, and droughts. These images are hand-painted onto stunning leather totes. Historic house codes are revisited within the collection, and ones that have been developed over the course of the last year are further developed.

In addition to the hand-painted totes, a variety of handbag silhouettes are shown throughout. Leather bags are finished with whip-stitched details, fittingly appearing in an array of neutral, earthy hues. The revival Edith bag, is further explored for Fall 2022, given a cleaner, more streamlined aesthetic. The bags, of course, are also designed with sustainability in mind, and around 70% of the leather is sourced from Leather Working Group certified tanneries, making them lower impact.
