This fall, Nicolas Ghesquière celebrates a decade of his tenure at Louis Vuitton. His appointment marked a new chapter for the Maison, and in the last ten years, fans have been delighted by Louis Vuitton through Ghesquière’s lens. Louis Vuitton brings back one of his early designs this fall, joining the ranks of the House’s other new classics like the Capucines, Twist, and Dauphine.

The Louis Vuitton GO-14 Bag, Reimagined

First introduced on the runway for Spring 2015, Nicolas Ghesquière revisits the GO-14 bag this season. The GO-14 fuses Louis Vuitton’s brand heritage with modern-day appeal, offering a unique combination of classic and contemporary. This fusion comes together thanks to the LV Twist closure and the bag’s quilting, which ties back to the Maison’s rich history in trunk-making. The crisscrossing pattern of the GO-14 mimics the interior of Louis Vuitton trunks. This tactile, padded technique is known as malletage.

Furthering the Maison’s commitment to innovation, the new renditions of the GO-14 explore exciting new techniques, offering an innovative edge. Padded lambskin leather is quilted and given a “toasted effect.” Applied by hand, this finish gives the GO-14 a unique, sophisticated feel with a touch of shine.

The emblematic LV Twist lock further defines the bag, which features a top handle and adjustable chain. Both handles are completely removable, so they can be worn independently or simultaneously. The interior is fitted with a zipped pocket and a flat pocket with a mirror that fits inside. This season, the GO-14 line also sees the addition of the Pico GO-14, a mini version with a crossbody chain strap.
