Jonathan Anderson Leans Into Old Hollywood Glamour For Dior Cruise 2027

Jonathan Anderson continues to cement his vision for the House of Dior, which is quickly proving to be a marrying of Dior’s heritage and modern flair. For his Cruise 2027 debut, Anderson continued that theme, drawing on Christian Dior’s relationship with cinema and his allure to Hollywood for inspiration.

That allure has followed the House through its many eras, and this season Anderson pulled from the archives, referencing a jacket from Christian Dior’s Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1949 collection that was worn by Marlene Dietrich in Alfred Hitchcock’s Stage Fright. Dietrich famously told Warner Brothers executives, “No Dior, no Dietrich!”

She did, of course, wear Dior in the film.

Fast forward to the present day, and Anderson wove the glamour of Hollywood throughout the collection. Ready-to-wear offered a stunning parade of dresses. From flowing floral organza dresses to beautiful bias-cut satin numbers fitted with florals, sequins, and feathers, the details feel distinct to Anderson’s aesthetic—done the Dior way.

Of course, nods to Dior’s heritage and storied savoir-faire are woven throughout, like a new Bar jacket made from sparkling wool bouclé paired with elevated denim—a true Anderson-ism. What looks like your average pair of destroyed jeans at first glance is actually a pair with rips embroidered with very fine silver chains. Elsewhere, pleated silks were juxtaposed with contrasting textures such as houndstooth and plaid.

New Dior Bags Debut Alongside Reimagined House Icons

As for the bags, this collection melds past eras of Dior with the modern era we’ve entered under Anderson’s reign. New House staples like the Cigale bag and the new Médaillon motif, reimagined on a bucket bag silhouette, sit alongside Dior icons like the Lady Dior and the Saddle bag.

Vintage lovers will recognize many Galliano-era references, such as the Saddle Frame’s return to the runway and Dior’s iconic newsprint. Elsewhere, Anderson continues his love affair with fashion whimsy, presenting a range of playful minaudières shaped like bumblebees and fitted with four-leaf clovers, ladybugs, and more.
